Sunset Park neighborhood of spirituality.

If Brooklyn has the well deserved name as the borough of churches, then Sunset Park is the neighborhood of churches.

Sunset Park abounds in religious institutions. With a community as diverse as ours one can find every flavor spiritual preference that one can think of. We will be using these pages to highlight the hundreds of religious institutions that one can find in our community. One can find everything from Mosques to Synagogues, from Muslim to Budhist, from Catholic to Protestant here. We begin by highlighting in pictures the local Catholic churches that served the earliest immigrants to Sunset Park.

The basilica Our Lady of Perpetual Help (established 1893) on 60th street and 5th Avenue is the largest church in Brooklyn and where the Archbishop of the diosece of Brooklyn is normally crowned.

Saint Michael's Roman Catholic Church (established 1870) is on the corner of 4th Avenue and 42nd. street.

Saint Agatha (established 1912) is on 7th Avenue and 48th street.

Coning soon, other instutions of faith..
